Expert meeting Opportunities for Dutch agribusinesses in Romania
Wednesday, October 15, 2025
Aeres University of Applied Sciences,
De Drieslag 4 8251 JZ Dronten
Romania offers plenty of opportunities and space and appreciation for agrifood entrepreneurs. In addition, with solid funding support from the EU.
There is a huge shortage of manure, discussions about ammonia are non-existent, and as a farmer and horticulturist you are valued. Moreover, there is a strong economy and it is a beautiful country in terms of culture, climate and nature.
And that’s just a 2-hour flight away….
Leading entrepreneurs in Romanian dairy farming are Dutch, there is plenty of investment in pig farming, and beautiful farms have been set up in arable and horticulture.
To introduce you to the many opportunities in this beautiful country, Aeres Hogeschool Dronten and the Dutch Romanian Network are organizing this expert meeting. The afternoon is intended for investors, farmers, market gardeners, suppliers and processors.
The meeting will take place at the Aeres Hogeschool campus in Dronten. Prior to this afternoon, interested parties can also visit Aeres Hogeschool’s practical farm, Aeres Farms, starting at noon.
For members of the Dutch Romanian Network and students at the Aeres Hogeschool, participation in this afternoon is free. For non-members the cost is € 35 per person, excluding VAT.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Workshop I Dairy/beef farming
Gert Bronkhorst, owner/CEO of Dutch Trading International SRL and
Dutch Trading International SRL (since 2005) is one of the largest trading companies in Romania for beef cattle (cattle and sheep), with its own slaughter location, many assembly plants and also a number of beef cattle locations.
Siemen Alberda and Pascal Cazimier, owners and management of Alcama Dairy.
Alcama Dairy was founded three years ago by three Dutch entrepreneurs, two of whom (Pascal Cazimier and Niels Marra) now do day-to-day management. They bought an old farm, which at that time was not milking. About 250 cows are currently being milked. Siemen Alberda, the third shareholder, also has a modern dairy farm in the Netherlands in Dronrijp (125 mk, 2 A3 robots). Alcama Dairy is an example of a nice successful and workable construction of investors and management and of what is still possible in Romania.
Workshop II Pig farming
Adrian Balaban is a veterinarian and a successful Romanian pig farmer in eastern Romania, currently with 10,000 sows and 35,000 pigs in rearing. He is also President of the Romanian Association of Pig meat Producers.
Pim Biewenga, export director of MS Schippers will explain their “stable experiences” in Romania
Workshop III Arable farming and mechanization
Minne Lettinga after many years of experience in Frisian arable farming (grains and potatoes) has been active in Romania since 2008. Part of the time with the land fund Frisian Investors and further with 1 of the most innovative arable farms in Romania Frizon Agro (4,200 ha).
Jos Popken, owner of Cormana SRL. Jos has been active in agricultural mechanization all his working life, grew up on the family farm in Smilde, has been active in Romania since 2008 and has recently made the decision to fully focus on the development of the mechanization company Cormana SRL in Romania, which focuses on the potato, vegetable and dairy sector.
Workshop IV Horticulture
Hans Ten Zweege is owner of Holland Farming BV. Holland Farming exports inputs for horticulture to 30 countries and are market leader in Romania. He can make a good comparison between the opportunities in different countries and what position Romania takes in this regard.
